Made it Baby Nominated for Style Awards! Votes Wanted!!!

We love success stories & this one just hits the mark.  Ok, so it's all about the other hat I co-wear as designer/maker/ etc etc for the label Made it Baby which is found on Little Kiwis Nest.

Amy & I started both businesses one year ago this month (well, I should say 'launched' as there were a few months behind the scenes prior) so the nominations by Kids Fashion Review Style Awards couldn't have come at a better time.  We are absolutely chuffed to be named alongside other fantastic NZ-made businesses & to be in the chance to win such a cool title!

We would LOVE your help by way of votes ... pleeeeease!  Pop over to http://kidsfashionreview.com & follow the links through to the Style Awards voting section.  We're in section 3 - Best NZ-Made Babies/Kids Label.

And if our undying love & appreciation isn't incentive enough to vote ... perhaps the $10,000 worth of prizes up for offer is!!!  Good luck everyone & be sure to let us know which awesome prize you win.

Thanks,
Suzan & Amy

Vintage-inspired Nappy Stacker

Yours, Naturally is not JUST about their devine range of all-natural baby balms & lotions.  I have just stumbled across their latest creations - a 'Charms of Yesteryear Nappy Stacker'.

In true vintage fashion, this stacker is crisp & pretty, and decorated with pieces of recycled crochet items.
This will look good in any baby's room - boy or girl. Definitely an item you would want to keep even after they've outgrown it!

Such a handy item to have in your nursery: Apart from nappies, stack some of baby's bedding in there, or even toys. Great way to organize baby's space!

Makes a great gift for Mum's to be - will fit with almost any nursery!

Playing Hide & Seek in the Rose Garden

Auckland is blessed with the most gorgeous rose garden open year-round to the public. I know there are people out there who are blessed with a green thumb & can grow these beautiful blooms, my mother-in-law is one of 'those' people, but I have to make do visiting the Parnell Rose Gardens to get my fix of the delicious smelling flower in all their glory.

Saturday afternoon was our first trip of the year to the gardens. We had to time our visit just right to ensure the gardens were empty of all visitors there to appreciate the flowers in a meditative, quiet state. There is nothing quiet or demur about our visit to the gardens! The flowers tower over my two girls (4yrs & 2yrs) & they love nothing more than to race around the winding paths, squealing at the tops of their lungs, getting completely & utterly lost.

Hide & seek with littlies is funny at the best of times (you know, they bury their faces on the couch, bums in air & think you can't see them because they can't see you!) - but hide & seek in a rose garden is especially trying when you have a princess of a daughter! Our dear Tia would be all excited to seek the 'hiders' ... she'd take a couple of fast strides & stop short to smell another glorious flower that happened to be at nose height.

And try as we might to tell her that the petals on the ground aren't really a 'clue' that someone has left like in the storybooks, she insisted on collecting each & every one!
So much fun!

Can you guess what my theme of this post will be? Yep, handmade creations for kids incorporating flowers, flowers & more flowers!

Whooooo Loves Owls?!?

The designers at Little Kiwis Nest do!!!
Designer Kerry of Kazartz is painter extraodinaire & is especially passionate about all things owl - with a few dinosaurs thrown in! She LOVES small, bright, funky art for bedroom walls & her artwork is soooo affordable (ie starting at just $10!).

Amy of A.P.T Designs has a passion for authentic design, fine art and anything cute - including her cuddly owl toy.
Lisa's range of Cuckoonest creations are original, eclectic, high quality and upbeat. Although the owl pictured on her gorgeous cot/throw is a stage prop we think he's gorgeous & deserves a mention!
The girls behind 'made it baby' listened to the masses have just introduced sleeping owls to their 2010 baby clothing range. You'll find singlets & bloomers for both boys & girls in their funky, handmade collection.

New to the Nest ... SnuggleB Toys

We fell in love with the quirkiness (is that a word!?) of the Sunggleb Toys range & were so excited to welcome the very talented Debbie onto Little Kiwis Nest. Debbie is from Hamilton (great new craft market starting new soon, by the way) & has two kidlets.

Debbie started sewing as a teenager & it followed her into her work as well, as an after school job and later as fulltime work as a pattern maker and marker.

It took the arrival of her children to revive her passion for sewing again. Debbie started making Snuggle Blankets when her son became attached to one of his blankets, it kind of snowed balled from there. When her daughter became attached to a crazy giraffe she designed a toy pattern as well.

Now Debbie has a variety of toys in her collection and loves anything handmade.

You can catch Debbie with her range of handmade Snuggleb Toys at the new Hamilton markets starting in Feb

Just for fun

The weather in Auckland is quite abysmal, to say the least. Not only is it raining constantly it has turned extremely chilly again. Out comes the gas heater again, on go the electric blankets by night & overcoats by day. Crazy seeing as though we're well into the spring months now!

So all around the country I can imagine mums beginning to tear their hair out, trying to come up with things for the youngsters during the school/kindy break. By now, your second week, you're probably looking for a few more toys to keep them amused? So our Little Kiwis Nest photo picks could be the type of things you need to sprighten up your rainy days.
